Press Office
For academics
The five thematic reports we have published only scratch the
surface of the wealth of information contained within the Girls’
Attitudes Survey. We hope that, as well as forming the basis for
our own reporting, the raw data we have collected will be useful
for individuals working on research projects relating to young
people. If you would like to analyse the Girls’ Attitudes Survey
data for use in your own research, then please contact us on
girlsattitudes@girlguiding.org.uk
to receive the data tables in Excel format. All we ask is that you
send us a copy of any work you publish and reference Girlguiding UK
as follows: Published by Girlguiding UK. © The Guide Association

For the media
The findings of the Girls’ Attitudes Survey make for fascinating
reading and provide a unique perspective on many of the issues
currently dominating the news agenda, from climate change to the
credit crunch. If you would like to report on any aspect of this
piece of research, then the Press Office team at Girlguiding UK are
happy to assist you. They can secure spokespeople for interview and
provide you with more information both about this project and about
Girlguiding UK. Contact pressoffice@girlguiding.org.uk
for more details.
For youth organisations
A primary objective for Girlguiding UK in commissioning this
research was to better understand girls and young women’s lives in
order to develop even more relevant and challenging informal
learning programmes for them. Therefore, this research makes
valuable reading not only for us, but for all those involved in
developing youth programmes. If you would like any more information
about how we approached this project, or would like to use the
research findings to inform your own work with young women, then we
would love to hear from you. Contact girlsattitudes@girlguiding.org.uk
to find out more about working with us.
For public policy writers
It is clear that the life experiences of young women differ
significantly from those of young men of equivalent age, and that a
‘one size fits all’ youth policy will not meet the needs of many
young women. Public services must therefore be targeted
specifically to meet their needs. The Girls’ Attitudes Survey
allows public policy-makers direct access to the experiences and
attitudes of young women, and can be used to inform and direct
policy development to ensure that it is relevant. If you would like
to use any part of this research in your policy work, then please
contact us on girlsattitudes@girlguiding.org.uk
to receive the data tables in Excel format. All that we ask is that
you send us a copy of any work you publish and reference
Girlguiding UK as follows: Published by Girlguiding UK. © The Guide
