How healthy do you think you are?

In total four fifths (81%) of girls aged 11 to 16 describe themselves at healthy; of these 18% say they are ‘very healthy’ and 63% ‘quite healthy’. Of the fifth (18%) who say they are not healthy, 2% describe themselves as ‘not at all healthy’.

What do you think are the main causes of stress among girls your age?

The most common cause of stress among 11- to 16-year-old girls is exams and tests (76%). This is followed by relationships with the opposite sex (68%), relationships with friends (67%), parents nagging them (64%) and money (60%). Just over half mention pressure to look like a celebrity (54%) and pressure to own the latest gadgets and clothes (51%).

How happy are you with the way you look?

Nearly half (47%) of girls aged 11 to 16 are ‘quite happy’ with the way they look and a fifth (20%) are ‘very happy’, although this falls to 15% among 13- to 16-year-olds. Another fifth (21%) are ‘not very happy’ with their appearance and 9% are ‘not at all happy’.
