How happy are you most of the time?

Most young women in this age range are happy: 84%, of which one fifth (19%) are ‘very happy’ and two thirds (65%) are ‘quite happy’. Only 12% say that they are ‘not very happy’ and 2% are ‘not at all happy’.

Government cutbacks

Young women in this age range feel strongly that funding for the NHS should not be cut at all (chosen by 83%). Education also scored highly, with 78% saying that it should not be cut at all. Around half (47%) of 16- to 21-year-olds think that activities for young people should not be cut, although 42% think they should be cut a bit. A third (35%) think that unemployment benefits should be cut a lot or completely and a fifth (21%) think that overseas aid should be cut a lot.

Which of these are true about where you live?

Just over half (53%) of 16- to 21-year-olds say that they feel safe in their local area.  Fewer than half know their neighbours by name (45%) or think that this country is a good place to live and grow up (41%). A third (33%) have done something to help a neighbour in the past year but only a fifth (19%) feel part of their local community.
