Would you like to spend more time with your family?
More than nine in ten girls in this age range (91%) would like
to spend more time doing things with their family and only 6% would
not. Younger girls (aged 7 to 8) are slightly more likely to want
to spend more time with their family than older ones (93% compared
to 88%).
Spending time with parents
A third (32%) of 7- to 11-year-olds agree with the statement ‘My
mum/dad are often too busy or tired to spend time with me’, while
just over half (52%) disagree and 16% do not know.
If you have children in the future, which would you
prefer to do when they are young: stay at home or go back to
work?
A third of girls (32%) in this age range say
that they would like to stay at home if they had young children.
Working part-time is the preferred option for 42%, although this
rises to over half (53%) of 9- to 10-year-olds. Only 7% say that
they would like to work full-time.
